The Expertise I Will Bring to the Position
ChairKen KraftI, along with Richard Cherchio, was one of the driving forces behind founding the North Valley Democratic Club to fill a need for grassroots Democratic organizing in the Northern Las Vegas Valley, and am currently the First Vice Chair.

I am a veteran of several Democratic campaigns, including field organization for Sen. John Edwards prior to the 2004 and 2008 Presidential Caucuses, Precinct Captain for the 2004 Kerry/Edwards and 2008 Obama/Biden ticket and Field Director for Andrew Martin’s 2008 Assembly campaign. My Precinct elected me to be Chair of the 2004 and 2008 Presidential Caucuses. I am a member of both the Clark County and Nevada State Democratic Party Central Committees and a member of the City of North Las Vegas’ Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

As First Vice Chair, I’ve spearheaded a number of important initiatives and coordinated several key events. These include collaborating with Vicenta Montoya on our initial bylaws, and working with Congresswoman Berkley’s field office for our August meeting and with School District Trustee Chris Garvey for our September meeting.

My wife Amy and I live in Aliante and share our home with my Father-in-Law Hal Kaltman, our dog Thorndyke and our cats Flo and Midge.

As your chair, these are the commitments that I will make to you:
  • To serve as Chair for the entire two-year term, and to make the continued growth and strength of the club a top priority.

  • To increase our club’s visibility in the community, by building on the “Democrats Care” program and other programs to demonstrate our Democratic values to the public.

  • To make meetings not only an opportunity to come together, but a forum to rally support for our Democratic candidates, and to inform and educate our membership through workshops and engaging guest speakers.

  • To work with all candidates to provide coordinated support so that we can provide the streamlined, organized volunteer opportunities that are required to work with multiple campaigns.

If you would like to discuss my idea or have any questions, please feel free to contact me at
kenneth.l.kraft@gmail.com or via phone at (702) 561-4954.

Thanks

Ken Kraft
1st Vice ChairSherri Grotheer   I would be honored to serve the North Valley Democratic Club in the role of First Vice Chair, and hope to have an opportunity to grow what was started barely a year ago into the strong, active organization I know it can be.

I have served in numerous leadership roles over the years. While busy raising my children, I focused on and actively participated in their activities, as a Girl Scout Leader and Council representative, and as Vice-President of a sports booster club responsible for planning tournaments that called young gymnasts from all over the United States. I have worked as a paralegal for the past 20 years, and currently serve on the Nevada State Board of Certified Court Reporters.

Over the last three years, I have built a large network of Democratic friends in the North Valley while serving as a Precinct Captain for the Hillary Clinton campaign, a District Leader for State Party, and a Neighborhood Leader for the Obama campaign and its successor organization, Organizing for America. In these roles, I have actively recruited and trained Precinct Captains, knocked on countless doors, and registered hundreds of Democrats. I have also planned and organized a number of fund-raising and social events for Democratic candidates, including Shelley Berkley and Rory Reid. I am a member of the Clark County Central Committee and serve on the Bylaws Committee. Of most import to your decision on the First Vice Chair position – I am a tireless worker and absolutely committed to doing whatever it takes to promote Democratic principles.

The First Vice Chair’s primary responsibility to this organization is to oversee membership recruitment and retention, which is key if our club is going to continue to grow. I will utilize the relationships I have built in the Democratic community to immediately increase the Club’s membership, and have a number of other ideas, including reaching out to our local High School Democratic Clubs to encourage youth participation.

I also recognize that for the long term health and strength of the Club, we must offer our membership an experience that engenders their continued participation. I want to make this your club – and will begin by immediately soliciting members’ input on speakers, events, and activities that will excite the membership, as well as providing our service and assistance to Democratic candidates. I have a vision and want to work with each of you to make the North Valley Dems the “hottest” ticket in Clark County.

1st Vice Chair
Mike Pascoe
I respectfully request your consideration to elect me as First Vice Chair of the North Valley Democratic Club (NVDC).
I have served as Treasurer of the NVDC since its inception in January 2009 and was one of its founders. I am currently on the Central Committee for the state Democratic Party and Clark County Democratic Party and actively attend meetings. I will be available to represent the NVDC at these meetings. I attended both the county and state conventions and was a Precinct Captain for the caucus in 2008. I was also in the original Team Titus group to elect her as Governor and have endorsed several fellow Democrats by holding fund-raising parties at my home. I am involved in the community where I live in Sun City Aliante and serve on the Covenants Committee.
My first involvement with the Democratic Party was the first presidential election of Stevenson and Eisenhower in the 50’s and I have been active since then.
I believe the First Vice Chair should be available to promote the club at various Democratic functions. Since I am retired, I will be able to fulfill that duty as First Vice Chair. I would appreciate your vote.
Your Fellow Democratic
Mike Pascoe

Since the first meeting in January 2009 of the North Valley Democratic Club, I have actively participated in the Club by:

  • Maintaining my status as a member in good standing,
  • Raising $320 revenue by solely initiating and running a 50/50 Raffle at the monthly meetings,

  • Securing the Centennial Hills Library as an alternate site for the Club's January 2010 meeting, and

Due to my previous experience of serving on boards, I am familiar with the parliamentary rules in conducting business meetings. I currenty serve on the NVDems Club's Financial Committee. Therefore, I ask for your support in electing me, JOSI AUDIA, as Treasurer on February 18, 2010. Thank you.
TreasurerSue BrooksI am a candidate for Treasurer of the North Valley Democratic Club. I want to be a part of making this new club an active part of NW Las Vegas.

I am a retired elementary school administrator from San Jose, California. My husband and I moved to our NW Las Vegas home in 2006. During that year I became an active volunteer in the Jack Carter campaign for Senate and joined the Red Rock Democratic Club. In 2007 I became active in the campaign leading up to the Presidential Caucuses and was temporary chair for my precinct. During the Presidential Campaign, I was a Neighborhood Leader for my NW Region of OFA. After the election, I continued my volunteer involvement with the newly formed Organizing for America, concentrating in NW Las Vegas.

In the Red Rock Club, I was a Board Member at Large, a member of the Social Committee and in charge of Pot of Gold sales at each meeting. When the North Valley Democratic Club was formed, I joined it too, but was still tied to Red Rock. Slowly I have withdrawn from my responsibilities there and decided that working with the N.V. Democratic Club coordinates better with my volunteer role with OFA in Northwest Las Vegas.

I look forward to being a part of making it an exciting Democratic Club and working to elect Democratic candidates in our region of Las Vegas. I would be honored to serve as Treasurer.
Corresponding Secretary

I love this club and originally became involved when Richard Cherchio asked me to create our NVDC Web site. We had met sometime during the Obama campaign either while I was working at the Clark County Democratic Party offices stuffing campaign literature into bags for distribution or while I was doing database work for the National Democratic Party and our North Las Vegas Valley “Meet the Candidate” efforts.

Once the campaign got under way, my wife Diane did daily house-to-house canvassing in North Las Vegas and I received end-of-day data page reports from North Las Vegas Valley canvassers for me to scan and upload to the National Democratic Party servers in Chicago for the next morning’s downloading and distribution to canvassers here in the Valley. In that way the canvassers knew whether to skip houses or what to expect when revisiting houses again for campaigning. Our database entry took place 24 hours a day in a donated house in the northern part of the valley. There were similar headquarters elsewhere in the Valley. At all of them, local canvassers and organizers from California & Nevada slept in shifts and worked their way through our local campaign for many weeks. It was heartening to watch so many people here in the valley working so very hard in the campaign.

I now serve the NVDC as its Corresponding Secretary and Webmaster. I bring Web site design and construction skills to the NVDC from years of providing such services to organizations and companies throughout the country. I am also able to use skills acquired from a career involved with counseling top and middle management in non-profit organizations and for-profit corporations in leadership and organizational behavior. As an author of numerous books and professional articles for various publishers and as a retired professor emeritus, I apply acquired writing skills to the various challenges of the NVDC Corresponding Secretary position. For a quick bio-sketch, on this Web site, click . I am confident that this club will continue its growth. I’d like to continue serving and grow with it.
