Las Vegas Councilman Steven Ross spoke to the NVDC on the progress of the Tule Springs project, upcoming elections, and the National Stabilization Plan.
Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto spoke regarding a bill on elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. She also briefed us on the Bureau of Consumer Protection, on mortgage fraud, on the declining use of methamphetamines, on safe disposal of prescriptions drugs, on sex education for teens, and on protecting children from sexual predators. She also responded to questions from the membership regarding health care and Medicaid fraud.

Among others attending was Robert Randazzo, Candidate for Nevada Lt. Governor.

Our thanks to the Aliante Library for use of its facilities. It is described by the North Las Vegas Library District as follows:
Aliante Library, the City’s newest, state-of-the-art facility, opened to the public in May 2006, at 2400 W. Deer Springs Way, just east of Aliante Parkway. Aliante Library hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The library is closed Sundays. The new library is a one story, 15,900 square-foot building that houses a reference, circulation, young adult and a children's section with an outside patio for story times. The library offers public access computers, adult and children's programming and meeting rooms in addition to books, videos, DVDs, magazines and newspapers. Other features include a special programs room, multi-purpose room, meeting rooms with kitchen, circulation and reference desks, book processing areas, and staff offices. The exterior building design complements the surrounding community, and the landscaping blends into the adjacent Nature Discovery Park.
