Nevada Bans Chicken Costumes from Polling Places

Voters wearing chicken costumes will be barred from polling stations in Nevada, election officers have decided.

The Senate Health Care bill passed the House of Representatives with more than the required 216 "Yes" votes the night of March 21, 2010. It now moved to President Obama's desk and he signed it into law. Both Congresswomen Berkley and Titus voted "Yes" on the bill. The House Reconciliation ("Fix it") bill is another bill that passed in the House on the same evening. That particular bill moved to the Senate. The Senate votes "Yes" on that bill, and it has also been signed into law by President Obama. -3/21/10-

March 18, 2010 NVDC Meeting-A Huge Success! Speakers from Senator Reid's office, Congressperson Titus's office, and from the Nevada Cancer Institute briefed us on The Effects of the U.S. Stimulus Package on Southern Nevada. The general conclusion of all was that the Las Vegas news media has not been adequately representing the amounts of monies and programs that have benefited southern Nevada from the stimulus package. Over $2 million in stimulus money has been granted to the Nevada Cancer Institute for the training of graduate RNs for certification in the speciality of oncological nursing, a profession in great demand in the Las Vegas area. Those certified will provide the services necessary to enhance Cancer therapy for Nevada patients and will provide enhanced lifetime income for those RNs certified. Among other benefits of the Stimulus Package will be millions of dollars in transportation services for the valley. A north-south bus route will be introduced, lanes will be created on I-15, and other transportation projects will be started at NDOT's discretion.
